Projects

We base our understanding of Social Business on the term coined by Muhammad Yunus. Thus, a Social Business is:

1. a business created to solve a social or environmental issue
2. a non-loss, non-dividend company, meaning that it is financially self-sustainable and profits realized by the business are reinvested in the business itself (or used to start other social businesses), with the aim of increasing social impact.

Our projects are modular and designed from their inception to be replicated. While we work in Nepal, our solutions are relevant in many countries in the Global South. Our projects aim to serve as proof of concept that can be easily replicated in other locations. For this purpose, we want to share our innovations, best practices, and project guidelines with other locally based civic actors in the Global South in an open-source approach.

Our projects aim to empower. The logical consequence is, that those we serve must be in decision-making positions within our projects. In the long-run, we aim to gradually decrease our involvment in the projects, giving the projects into the hand of the local communities.

Our projects are based on innovation, meaning that each project integrates technical solutions to address complex social challenges. We work closely with renowned research institutes and harness their insights to develop our projects. Our projects are committed to simplicity, ensuring that our innovative solutions are not overly complex but rather accessible, user-friendly, and effective.

Cradle to Cradle is a way of designing things so that they don’t end up as waste. Instead of throwing things away, the idea is to make products that can be reused or recycled. It’s like a cycle where materials go back to nature or industry after we’re done using them. This approach aims to reduce waste and take care of the environment by creating things in a smarter and more sustainable way.
